Describe the audible failure
Distinguish one-way audio, intermittent sound, delay and complete failure to connect. Record which endpoint and connection were involved through the organisation’s controlled process. Avoid attaching private call recordings to a public discussion merely to illustrate the issue.
Check the environment proportionately
Review supported devices, headset connections and network requirements. A fast download result alone does not characterise a real-time call path. Compare a permitted known-good setup with the affected one where appropriate; preserve what changed so the observation is interpretable.
Do not weaken protections as a shortcut
Network and firewall review belongs with an authorised administrator. Vendor recommendations need to be assessed in the actual environment, not copied as blanket permission to disable protections. If a platform or carrier issue remains plausible, retain relevant call references securely for support.
A fictional comparison
A call connects on both office workstations but one headset produces unusable audio. The team isolates the device path before changing the number route. This does not prove every audio issue is local; it shows why connection, audio and carrier status need separate evidence.
Separate repeatable comparisons from impressions
Ask the authorised participants to describe what each end heard, rather than recording only that the sound was bad. Compare the affected setup with a permitted known-good endpoint where practical, noting the time and connection. If the fault follows a headset, that is different evidence from a problem shared by several devices on one network. Neither observation alone proves the final cause. Avoid introducing new recording or monitoring tools merely to gather more data. Keep the minimum diagnostic references needed for the provider or network administrator, and explain what changed between observations. When a repair is proposed, define the specific audio symptom it should address. A call connecting successfully does not establish that intelligible two-way conversation was possible throughout it.
